Young Partners in Development

How do we develop monitoring and evaluation for the best interest of Indigenous children and families?

I wanted to start our discussions with a question. How do develop M & E that is accountable to Aboriginal/Indigenous children and families?

Some ideas from our previous discussions to get us started:
-develop m & e framework that is accountable to the DIVERSITY that exists between Indigenous communities (culturally-specific)
-engage children and families in defining what success and well-being are for them (participatory)
-focus on frameworks, indicators and tools that are STRENGTH-BASED, that measure the success families and communities are having in supporting their children

just a few ideas to start the disucssion....

I think it might be helpful to also have easy access to the summary on M&E in Child Welfare in Indigenous Communities. Here is the video:

Fantastic, thanks!!

Our organization recently published an Aboriginal Child and Youth Friendly Communities toolkit. It is a strength-based self assessment toolkit to help evaluate the child and youth friendliness of a community. It is written with a BC, Canada focus but we are finding that communities all over the world are downloading it and finding it helpful.

It is available for free download here. Hopefully it will be useful to some in this group.

Fantastic, thanks so much for sharing this!
