Monitoring and evaluation are the most crucial components of a development program. But unfortunately they are highly neglected in many instances. Especially when it comes to programs specific to children and their well being. The reason primarily is that the children donot ASK, children donot QUESTION. This applies to Indian context where children are not encouraged to say Why?. In such instances, evaluating the success of any program centres around quantitative and qualitative terms. I personally go after the numbers in terms of coverage and then see how many of the children have actually been touched through the specific program. Case studies tell us a lot and provide a comparative picture coming from past -present to future.
