War/Dance. I had the fortune of seeing this film when it premiered in Kampala last year. It was attended by the children in the film and they spoke humbly about how they are but 3 children and the need to keep in mind the many untold stories of their peers.

This looks great Jen, can we get a copy for the iicrd?
Also, I am helping host a SE Asia human rights film festival related to SEARCH and perhaps we could invite Rumee the conference organizer to join our CRIP and share updates on some of teh child rights films screening at the conference?
Your thoughts?
That sounds like a great idea! I bet there are loads of good films out there yet to be discovered. Let me see if I can find a copy of War/Dance. Here's a link to it's IMDB site:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0912599/
This is not a movie specifically about children, but it is a movie about people from all over the world coming together to share their common beliefs of peace, love and friendship - all through music!

"Mark Johnson and his loyal crew traveled the world recording local musicians to make one salient point—in the words of reggae star Bob Marley: “One love, one heart. Let's get together and feel alright.” With Johnson’s passion and wizardry, it is so. Starting with a street musician in Santa Monica, vocals and the rhythms of a washboard from New Orleans are then added, layering in percussion from the Congo, harmony from Tel Aviv, base guitar from Spain, a South African choir, as well as contributions from Nepal, India, Russia, and then the legendary blues man Keb’ Mo’ lends his deeply soulful piece to create a goose-bump-inducing experience.

The collaboration on songs, both new and old, uses modern editing technology to skillfully weave together voices and instruments, creating a magical sound and image of a global community comprising unique talents and cultures."

There is a new documentary that has just hit theaters called Food Inc.

"Food, Inc. exposes America's industrialized food system and its effect on our environment, health, economy and workers' rights."

It touches on issues from genetic engineering and cloning to environmental impacts and healthy eating. Michael Pollan (of The Omnivore's Dilemma) and Eric Schlosser (of Fast Food Nation) teamed up for this project in order to reveal the power the food industry in our everyday life.

This film is supported by the Hungry for Change campaign which is attempting to get people involved in creating a better food system by making positive choices about what, where and how they eat.

Check out the website for more information and handy tips on eating better for our health and world!
